In July 2007 Eleanor competed in the Cardiff European Harp Competition and won the First Prize, a beautiful £20,000 uniquely decorated ‘Apollo’ concert harp, by renowned Italian harp manufacturers Salvi.

Eleanor also had the wonderful accolade of winning the ‘William Mathias Prize’, a beautiful piece of framed designer glass artwork by Angelina Hall as a trophy, for the best performance of Mathias’ ‘Santa Fé Suite’ which was a set piece for the second round of the competition. It was a real honour to be presented with this award by Dr Rhiannon Mathias at the Final of the Competition.

The jury was chaired by conductor Grant Llewellyn. The other members of the jury were international harp soloists Marisa Robles (Spain/UK), Jana Bouskova (Czech Republic), Ieuan Jones (Wales), Mario Falcao (Portugal), Deborah Hoffman (USA) and Alice Giles (Australia). Eleanor would like to thank everyone who comes to her concerts and follows her career, for the encouragement she received during her preparations for the contest.
